Leaders From Each Other
Leading a district through diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) work is hard and messy. Leaders From Each Other is an article that just came out this month and I have already read it three times. The article speaks to the heart of why many times DEIB initiatives in our districts get stuck. It requires 1) joint ownership (BIPOC and white staff) when doing the work, and 2) everyone needs to know how to do the personal work on their own internal triggers and biases. Only when we authentically do these two things can we begin to dismantle racism and jointly rebuild systems that provide our students the climate conducive to thriving academically and socially.

This approach of leadership is not about surviving, it’s about thriving with others with greater impact.
